In his early life he lived on Østerbro, but moved to Taastrup when he was 12.

He spent most of his time playing music with his brother Morten, and together with Morten he formed the band Silvercross when they were around 13-14 years old. His first guitar was a replica of a Gibson Les Paul.

He has later played in several bands such as Unicorn, Voodoo and Devil's Symphony. This, also together with brother Morten.
In 1982 he and Morten met Jørgen Sandau, Per Onink, and Carsten Nielsen and they formed Artillery (And the rest is history...).

In 1990 however, he left Artillery and formed the band Missing Link where Morten would also later play.

Carsten N. Nielsen

Carsten N. Nielsen

Performs: Drums
Active: 1982 - (Current)

Carsten N. Nielsen was born on November 4th, 1963 on Nørrebro, København (Copenhagen).

He grew up on Nørrebro until he was 12 and moved with his parents to Taastrup, a suburb to Copenhagen. He was going to school at Gadehaveskolen in Taastrup where his interest for music took its beginning with the release of “Sex Pistols – Never Mind the Bollocks” in 1977 and especially the release of “The Ramones – It’s Alive” in 1979. Those two records really opened up Carsten’s eyes for the fascination of playing music.

After buying his first drums in 1978 he started a Punk band called Ligkapellet (Mortuary) and had his debut at Rockmaskinen, Christiania in early 1979 - 15 years old.

Around 1981 the band split up and luckily Carsten met Jørgen Sandau when they were watching some rehearsals of Mercyful Fate and the Artillery took its beginning inspired by bands like Crossfire – GBH – Accept and Tank. The idea was to be the fastest and heaviest Heavy Metal Band in the world. And inspired by the song “Heavy Artillery” from the first Tank record - the band now started to call them selves Artillery and you know the rest is history.

In 1999 Carsten started as Football/Soccer coach in Brøndby IF, and for the last 8 years he has been coaching boys at the age of 8 – 14 years old… Carsten had also recorded two songs with the boys of his team – which was a very big experience for both Carsten and the boys, which make the boys feeling themselves important and gave them a lot of believes in themselves.

But anyway Carsten still prefers to listen to Punk rock and Thrash Metal and are still very much active going to concerts which is very important to him despite the fact that he is 43 years old nowadays still living in Taastrup with his wife and two kids.
